Private Sector Humanitarian Alliance

The Private Sector Humanitarian Alliance facilitates global private sector financial giving and in-kind partnerships to communities impacted by climate shocks and natural disasters around the world.

The Model

An investment mindset for humanitarian action

Empowering and supporting local communities — not only when crisis hits, but in advance — requires an investment mindset.

With support from Google.org, the PSHA aligns multinational corporate members with local humanitarian priorities, working closely with humanitarian partners, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

We are reducing barriers, risks, and friction for corporate actors so they can expand their reach into countries and communities at the most local level.

PSHA’s Mission

Consistent, budgeted humanitarian investment

All private sector members invest budgeted resources to support communities impacted by climate shocks, natural disasters and other humanitarian crises.

  • An active and engaged multi-stakeholder community connecting corporations with humanitarian partners
  • Increased budgeted cash and matching of in-kind investments ready before crisis strikes — pre-positioned to reach local organizations engaged in humanitarian response — effectively, efficiently and at scale
  • Actionable reporting on impact so every contribution is visible and accountable
How It Works

Ready before the moment of need

How the Distribution of Investments Works

The PSHA will initially invest in existing early action protocols and anticipatory action frameworks developed by our partners, the IFRC and OCHA. By pooling corporate contributions in advance, the PSHA model ensures that resources — cash, in-kind, expertise — are ready for immediate disbursement to partner humanitarian organizations at the time of need.

Building a Community of Engaged Private Sector Partners

The PSHA is creating a growing community of global corporations seeking to be more strategic, intentional, and collaborative in their humanitarian action.

Intelligence Services

Analysis of current and historical humanitarian events.

Investment Services

In-kind matching and funding services that address specific corporate and humanitarian needs.

Aggregated Reporting

Curated, customized synthesis of humanitarian investments.
